miHoYo's Dawei becomes the biggest "human easter egg" at Xiaohongshu RED LAND as players say he never turned down a photo

miHoYo president Dawei appeared at Xiaohongshu RED LAND to back the company's new game Xingbu Gudi, and was called by players the biggest "human easter egg" of this year's event, posing for photos with everyone who asked and even appearing on a parade float. This year's RED LAND expanded from 80,000 square meters to 150,000 square meters, with more than 160 game and anime IPs taking part and five rounds of ticket sales selling out in an average of 20.6 seconds. For the first time, miHoYo's Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero and Xingbu Gudi appeared together offline, and Dawei also met the physical robot of Nalo, the AI café proprietress from Xingbu Gudi.

Tencent quietly closed-beta tests E Ciyuan, an AI game companion product built around digital human buddies and voice companionship

Tencent is quietly running a closed beta of E Ciyuan, an AI game companion product that offers digital human characters, voice chat and real-time screen recognition. Players can pick male or female companions with different personas for everyday conversation, or turn on a game companion mode. The product is free during the beta, and the interface already shows a framework for exchanging star coins for energy and for spending energy by conversation turn, voice or length of companionship; the launch date, the list of supported titles and the final pricing plan have not been made public.

Why it matters: The article places E Ciyuan alongside in-game companion examples such as Lingbao and AI Pom-Pom, showing the difficulties standalone AI companions face in adaptation and monetization.
